Legal regulations for guest pilots in Austria in final general review!
We anticipate the decree to be in force by May 1st – just in time for the upcoming flying season and the “Super Paragliding Testival 2016”. Pilots holding a hang gliding or paragliding license from following countries my than lawfully fly in the Austrian Alps:
“Australia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Hungary, France, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine.”
HG/PG permits from all this countries have been proofed equivalent to Austrian licenses. Flying in Austria pilots must proove appropriate 3rd party liability insurance – just as this is also offered by AXA in Kössen (www.flugschulen.at/axa/english) License and insurance card have to be taken along while flying.
Pilots from all other countries may obtain a special “Guest-Licence” from the local “Austrian Flying School” by providing proof of qualification (e.g. IPPI card, national license,…).
